7 Ways to Hang a Sex Swing: Ceiling, Stand, Door, Wall and Beam Mounts

There’s more than one way to hang a sex swing. In this video, I walk through seven mounting options we’ve set up and tested, from a standard ceiling mount to hallway door setups and beam mounts. The quick rule: all seven work with a dual hook swing, but only three work with a single hook.

1. Ceiling mount (single or dual hook). The most common option. Use a welded screw eye, or a flat plate mount screwed directly into a joist. The flat plate is stronger, because it connects to the joist in several places. We don’t sell ceiling hardware, since Bunnings or any hardware store carries both. Buy one for a single hook swing, or two for a dual hook.

2. Stand (single or dual hook). No drilling at all, but a stand needs real floor space and height, and every stand mounts a little differently. Make sure the stand you choose works with your swing. Compare them in our sex swing stand guide.

3. Modified chin up bar (dual hook only). Swap the end screws on a doorway chin up bar for eye hook screws. This modifies equipment that wasn’t made for a swing, so use it at your own risk.

4. Door to door (dual hook only). In a hallway with two doors directly across from each other, put an over the door mount on each door and clip one side of your dual hook swing to each.

5. Wall to wall (dual hook only). The same idea, using an screw eyeor flat plate on each wall. Tip: a flat plate sits almost flush, so you can hang a picture or clock on it when the swing is put away.

6. Wall to door (dual hook only). One over the door mount on the door side, one screw eye or flat plate on the wall side. Make sure the two are level before you hang your swing.

7. Over the beam mount (single or dual hook). Comes as a set of two and wraps over an exposed beam, a stand’s top bar, or a tree limb, even limb to limb. See it up close in our beam mounts video.

...talk to you about seven mounting options. Now, the bad news is only three of these will work with a single hook, but the good news is all seven work with a dual hook.

The number one option, and the most common option, is direct ceiling mounts, and you can get that in a few options. You can get a welded eye hook. Make sure that it's welded, it's stronger that way, and this one's about 3 inches. Or you can get a flat plate mount, and with this, make sure that the back is flat. This is going to screw directly into a joist too. This is going to be stronger than an eye hook, because you're going to have multiple locations where it's connected to your ceiling, or your joist. And then either one of them, you can do as a single hook, you buy one. For a dual hook, you buy two.

Number two is a stand. Now, keep in mind that a stand will need significant floor space, as well as height, and that each stand comes different, with different options for mounting. So make sure that the stand that you buy works with the swing that you buy.

Number three is a modified chin up bar. Now, you've seen these everywhere, you can get chin up bars anywhere. But what you do is, you take out the screws that connect right here, put eye hook screws in there, and then this converts into a dual hook mount. It can only be used with a dual hook, and use it at your own risk, because you're modifying already made equipment.

Option number four is a door to door mount. What you would do is have a hallway with two doors directly across from each other. You would get over the door mounts, and these would go one on each side, one on each door, and then you would clip a dual hook into each side, and that would create a swing in the center. You can only do this with a dual hook, not a single hook. And here's what it will look like.

Number five is a wall to wall mount, same idea as door to door, but we're doing it with walls. So you will need an eye hook or a flat plate. Now, I'm going to use a flat plate for an example, and if you put it up here, it's going to be pretty flush with your wall, and you can hang artwork from here, a picture, a clock, something like that. Now, keep in mind that this can only be used as a dual hook. You're going to have to have one on each side, and you can't use that as a single hook.

Number six is wall to door. It's the same idea as door to door or wall to wall, except here we have one door, one wall. So what you're going to have is an over the door mount, and you're going to put that on the door side, and then on the wall side, you'll take an eye hook or a flat plate, and you'll put that over on that side, and make sure they're level, and then you can hang a dual hook just like the other ones.

Number seven is an over the beam mount. It comes like this, you get a set of two, so it can be for a single hook, like the setup here, or you can have a dual hook. I have mine over a stand, but you can do this on an exposed beam in your house, or on a tree limb, or from limb to limb. It's really a great option.

Well, there you have the seven mounting options. Now, if you want any more reviews, or if you want some instructions, go to the very top of the website, and you can find those in the tabs up there.
